Absolutely love this place. It is quite pricey, expect to spend about $50/person + drinks. But it is worth it. The hot rock steaks are amazing. Highly recommend for a quiet date night or entertaining guests from out of state. Very unique experience.

Very cool/artistic atmosphere! Happy hour is a great deal for some delicious drinks. We only had appetizers - octopus, shrimp and crab cakes - all were tasty and went well with our spicy cocktails.

It is a exciting environment with very unique decorations. From the moment you step in you are transported to there world and the food is great, try something new or get your favorite done right every time. We had a large party and everyone was pleased.

I think this is the best steak house I've been to in or out of Boise. I ordered the night's special which was a prime 12oz. New York steak crusted in black pepper and served with a wine reduction sauce, (the best) garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Simply fantastic! I really wanted to try one of the desserts which also looked amazing, but I was stuffed as it was. Next time we might visit for happy hour, share some appetizers and a dessert. We'll definitely be back again though!

I've never been here before, was taken her on business. Definitely a fun atmosphere with fun plating concepts. The wings were super tender and it was fun to be able to blacken them up a bit on the mini wood stove. The steaks being served on a hot rock felt a bit gimmicky but ended up being a great way to enjoy a medium rare steak while keeping every bite hot.

What an experience we had. Third time and just as good as the first. Try it, it's a little loud, but you can still have a conversation. Best place for a small group, or a romantic dinner for two.

Truly a great evening for all of us. Food was good. Drinks were good. Service a little slow, but they were slammed. My only criticism? Parking sucks! It was very difficult to get 90 year old 'Mom' in there with a walker, and then having to park a long ways away, walk with a recent foot surgery 'over hill and dale' to get there. Not nearly enough handicap parking to accomodate the size of crowd.

Service and ambience were above the food served. Everything was too salty! The quality of the meat and fish entrees were top tier, but suffered from the salty sauce and seasonings. The restaurant's touted special guacamole and chips appetizer would've lived up to it's reputation but for the heavy salting.

Best happy hour in Boise. 2 for 1 drinks and a large list of happy hour appetizers. The regular menu is pricy $35+ per entree so I usually get an app or two and am full.

This has been an amazing experience for my family! My Aunt and Uncle came to visit and my Husband, youngest daughter and I took them all here to eat... and oh my goodness what a wonderful experience we all had. There were a little hit or misses here and there with our appetizer being served to another table and a drink not being what it was supposed to be but it was fixed and we had a memorable night with our guests!! Thank you to our wait staff.. Connor great job young man! Also to Collin as well. Thank you and we can't wait to bring more friends and familyðŸ˜

Barbacoa is nothing like what you would expect for Boise. Walking in is like stepping into another world. The food is amazing and the presentation is better. The staff? They are everything you want and more! Connor was very personable and had great recommendations without trying to get me to order the most expensive items on the menu. Wish I could rate this experience 10 stars!

This is our favorite restaurant in town, it is obviously run by people who understand the hospitality industry, they have thought of virtually everything and have done a fantastic job with all aspects. The Bar service cannot be beat, every single menu item is over the top good and the service is outstanding with each table assigned a server and assistant. The valentines day service is super sweet with roses provided for every lady to take home, although the menu on this day is limited. The table side guacamole is worth the price of admission, the hot rock steaks are first quality. Full dinner service can be had at the bar seating area on busy nights and its worth it to order off the appetizer menu as it has its own unique items,. Be sure to make a reservation if time is critical because it is a seriously busy place most every night.

Loved the place! Had really good veg pasta and surprise ingredient - 'Dates'. Dessert was awesome too! Be sure to ask them for their vegetarian menu! Definitely lived up to the hype!

Amazing fine dining. Dined on an evening weeknight and the place was packed. I Avoided the wait for a table by dining at the bar. Served NY Strip rare on hot granite block. The longer you keep it in the block the more cooked it becomes to your desired like. Brilliant.Great food and atmosphere along with friendly and efficient employees made for a pleasing dining experience.

The food was aesthetic and tasty. The staff were attentive and pleasant. I called twice before arriving, we had a special request for a vegetarian in our party and the staff were all very helpful and accommodating from the telephone to the table. I value consistent service and Barbacoa’s staff were definitely consistent from beginning to end. Thank you for the good time! We will be back.

Incredibly over-priced. Food was ok, but nothing special, again not consistent with the pricing. Staff seemed to be "going through the motions" but it was clear that the goal was to turn our table over quickly. Then there was the appearance of the place - tired looking. Virtually everywhere you look, you see worn finishes, fixtures, furnishings. Management / Ownership really has taken their eyes off of the ball in this place. Badly in need of renovation. Disappointing experience.

If your in town you have to stop here. The steaks are just under 50 w a side and that’s great considering it’s double at other places. It’s served on a hot rock and the cognac dressing or crazy is delicious! The halibut crusted is also crazy good. The restaurant itself is decorated strange but it’s fun.

Friends brought us here when we were tired & not at all hungry. Boy did that change!! We stayed for hours, ate a bunch of amazing food, enjoyed the cocktails, service & lovely company....not to mention the decor & amazing art. It's an over-the-top design, and often times the food doesn't live up to the surroundings in a place like this. That's not the case at Barbacoa. The food is delicious, beautifully prepared and its presentation is just as amazing as the space. They have a great 2-for-1 drink happy hour until (I think) 6pm. We didn't have reservations (definitely needed for a table), so we grabbed a booth in the bar after a short wait (even with 5 ppl). Wish I was in Boise more often so I could go back & checkout the dining room. This place is a must do!!

My boyfriend and I love to come in here for their margaritas. The staff are always friendly. Whenever a friend comes in to town I really enjoy taking them to this place. The food is delicious and beautifully prepared. They have so many interesting dishes, especially the desserts. In addition to be being delicious, the presentation is often quite surprising. If you haven't been, you should try it.

One of my favorite local restaurants. Truly one of the gems of Boise Idaho. Incredible atmosphere. Wild and unique art. Top notch food. My personal favorite is the hot rock fillet. The cognac cream sauce is just to die for. They have a great private dining space for large groups or business gatherings. Highly recommend. ( Side note: They do a buffet for Thanksgiving dinner that is out of this world.)

Truly a treat! Drinks, food, and service were all impeccable. We were seated quickly, and the wait staff were right there to take our drink orders and get us started. Superb Thanksgiving Dinner Feast!! What an incredible dining experience!! Food was impeccable along with the service! Bottomless Mimosas and fantastic table service!! Highly recommend dining at Barbacoa anytime but especially on thanksgiving ... our family will be looking forward to going again next year!!

Our first time there on recommendation of several friends. Upper end restaurant and bar. Very nice setting. Excellent wait staff. Check their menu online. They have many gluten free options, but only one for desert (flourless chocolate cake) which was delicious! We spent about $60 per person without alcohol.

Terrific Paella and beyond excellent ( If there's anything beyond that ) service. I had paella before made by a cook from Spain itself but the paella in Barbacoa Grill even exceeded that. The atmosphere is so elegant also and the non-alcoholic margarita was as good as the regular one. This place is simply superior and made an amazing celebration night. Money simply well spent in a celebration to remember...!!!!

Hard to match the experience when entering this place. The best description I've heard to date is like going down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland. The food is out of this world good and the presentation is nothing short of storybook fun as well. I've never been disappointed yet. The steaks served on the hot rock are incredible. The drinks are fantastic and the desserts are worth stowing some of your dinner to save room. Don't miss out!

Lousy service and the food, well I've had better. The food is definitely way overpriced. I ordered the full rack of ribs which were pretty good, a little burnt, but the mashed potatoes were out of a Box, not home made. Huge disappointment.

So first and foremost I want to say the customer service here is absolutely outstanding. Our servers were extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable in the restaurant. The atmosphere is actually very enjoyable. The staff was not the issue here in the slightest. What we had an issue with was the food, for the price that we paid for our food it should have been at a much higher quality. Both octopus appetizers me and my wife got were rubbery and chewy. This was my first time here, but my wife was really confused by this as she's been here before and usually loves the octopus. The swordfish didn't taste very fresh, the coconut rice that came with it though was decent. She has convinced me to give this place a second shot and I hope the quality of the food will be more consistent with the price point. I will say the guacamole was outstanding though and the fact it's made in front of you and to taste is amazing.

Our waitress was prompt and friendly. The server explained to Bud what to do with the steak. Take it off the hot rock, slice off a piece and return it to the hot rock for it to finish cooking to your liking. It was delicious. I had the swordfish which was cooked perfectly and delicious. It came with coconut rice. It's an expensive restaurant but I left feeling satisfied.

The food here is epic- hence the major waiting space. Ambiance is wonderful, menu and beverage selection is one if the best in Boise. I’ve had better service elsewhere. I asked for a hot apple cider adult beverage or something like that and was just told “we don’t have thatâ€. Literally, had he suggested any other hot drink - I would have tried it. Ah well, I’m not really a drinker anyway.... It was nice to spend time with my son. We loved the food. It’s a shame some of the “leftovers†did NOT make it to the doggie bag- especially for $110/plate. Not sure if we will come back.

This has to be one of the best happy hours in town (Buy One Get One mixed drink menu). While the atmosphere is a little loud, the drinks are expertly crafted. I have sunken into the rut (I never intend to leave) of Old Fashions. They use quality ingredients and (I believe) a rye whiskey. This is the secret to good Old Fashions for the discerning: rye whiskey. Pair off this with guacamole and you have yourself a date!

Food was fresh, hot/cold, and tasty. Room was extremely small and claustrophobic. The place was too loud. Server asked off we needed anything more but then added "if not we can settle up". Very improper. While pouring the water from communal bottle, the server made contact with the glasses...not sanitary. So Okay is my rating. Very nice and accommodating servers.
